NoBS Video Downloader
The launch site for a no-nonsense Windows media downloader I built and ship myself — a fast static Next.js site with shader backgrounds, a searchable list of supported sites and a pay-what-you-want download.

The brief
NoBS Video Downloader is a lightweight Windows app I wrote in Python: paste links, pick a quality, download. Everything it needs is bundled, so there is nothing else to install.
The app needed a home that matched its pitch — quick to load, clear about what it does, and honest about the price. I designed and built the site end to end.
What I built
- A static Next.js 16 export with the React Compiler, typed routes and subresource integrity, deployed to Render with security headers applied at the edge
- An animated hex-wire background written as a GLSL fragment shader on a single React Three Fiber quad, frozen to a still frame for reduced motion
- A GSAP intro splash, scroll-driven sections over Lenis and a live mock-up of the app in the hero
- A searchable checker for the 1,700+ sites the downloader supports, showing the top sites first and the rest on search
- A pay-what-you-want download modal — donate or take it free — with typed analytics events for opens, donations and downloads
- Platform-specific landing pages with FAQ content, structured data and a generated sitemap for search
Shipping it as a product
Static export drops Next.js headers and redirects, so they live in the Render blueprint instead, alongside HSTS, a frame-ancestors policy and a locked-down permissions policy.
The EULA, privacy policy and third-party licence pages ship with the site, so the legal side of selling software was covered from launch.
